About The Artist

Gogo Borgerding • New Orleans, LA
Jewelry • CUSTOM COMMISSIONS

I am a New Orleans native who grew up knowing I wanted to be a jewelry artist. I graduated from SCAD in 2000 and set out to live my dream of being a full time jewelry artist. I have had the incredible experience of displaying at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for over 20 years, and have developed life-long clients/friends in the process. I create statement cuffs with bold geometric patterns and colors. Sterling Silver is etched, pierced, sawed, forged and riveted through cold connection with an anodized aluminum backing to give it it's distinctive pop of color.

Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

All my jewelry is Hand Crafted using Sterling Silver and Anodized Aluminum. I drill, sand, hand forge, rivet and complete the cuff with a special touch. I am attracted to color and by using anodized aluminum I feel I have created something contemporary that is attractive.

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

I am a New Orleans native who grew up knowing I wanted to be a jewelry artist. I graduated from SCAD in 2000 and set out to live my dream of being a full time jewelry artist. I have overcome ups and downs, had a store front, survived ups and down such as hurricanes, COVID and having my entire line of jewelry stolen, but I have not given up. I am fueled by the richness of my environment and the culture surrounding me in New Orleans. Mission: To handcraft magical sterling silver cuffs, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, & other statement-making adornments. Let’s bring the world together through sparking conversations through creative pieces of jewelry.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

When I discovered anodizing aluminum at SCAD it really clicked for me - this amazing bright color peeking out from behind brushed sterling silver gave me the WOW!! factor that I had been searching for. The other bonus through the years has been the camaraderie and the gift of unique conversations that my collectors get while traveling or even at home. If someone wears a GOGO and another person recognizes it an immediate bond of friendship forms, or at least a lively conversation.
