About The Artist

Shelley Beaumont • Burnsville, MN
Glass • CUSTOM COMMISSIONS

My childhood in Colorado was filled with enchantment. I played with rocks, explored streams, admired flowers, and marveled at mountains and stars. These experiences nurtured my love for the outdoors and the cosmos, sparking an interest in geology, astrology, and sacred geometry. Memories of light dancing on water, mica glimmering on granite boulders, and spotting shooting stars in the night sky inspire my art. I am passionate about exploring light, reflection, and patterns.

Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

Using hand-cut glass and mirror, my artwork requires meticulous shaping techniques to create functional and decorative pieces. I embellished with copper, minerals, and crystals, enhancing the inherent depth, color, and complexity of glass. Through repeating patterns and layering, these materials interact with light, resulting in energetic and dynamic works. Mirror is strategically employed to reflect light through the glass, adding both functionality and visual interest.

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

In summary, my art is an expression of my childhood wonder and a deep connection to nature. I strive to create art that embodies energy, movement, and color, infusing it with light, reflection, and patterns. I am passionate about creating high-vibration art that sparks wonder, awe, and elicits smiles when being interacted with. The materials I use allow me to explore light and reflection creating movement and areas for the eyes to rest while exploring the movement, patterns, and embelishments.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

I use mirror not only as a function, but I hide it in many of my decorative pieces to increase the luminosity and reflection of the opaque glass and gemstones.
