Lathe turned wall sculptures The idea for my wall sculptures came about on a trip to Salt Lake City. During the flight I became intrigued with the patterns created by the plots of land as well as the crop circles from the farms below. By the time the plane landed, I had two pages of sketches and a head overflowing with ideas.

Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

My wall sculptures start out as a single slab of wood that is then cut and arranged as a polyptych. The design and placement of all the centers is laid out before anything is ever mounted to the lathe. I have a 7ft faceplate mounted to my lathe giving the room to move the sculpture about as needed to turn each individual center

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?
