Hello, I am an interdisciplinary artist and designer with a diverse background in human centered design. My multidisciplinary career has been dedicated to understanding the ways in which we develop relationships with the objects, environments, and experiences that inhabit our lives. My millinery practice represents an extension of this exploratory journey with a focus on personal expression. As an aggregate discipline, millinery provides me the freedom to draw from a wide range of artisanal and contemporary techniques. This expression is further enriched by its intimate interaction with the face, particularly the eyes, or the portals to the soul. ‍

Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

All my work is handmade by myself. I buy most of my supplies from local suppliers. I own a large library of (mostly vintage) hat molds that I use to create blocked hats. I'm also comfortable with pattern drafting and creating cut and sewn headwear.

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

I find that I'm very drawn to creating for the face. It's endlessly fascinating canvas. I also enjoy millinery because there is so much creative freedom and potential. I'm constantly placing random things on my head and I enjoy the fact that this is a medium that welcomes playfulness.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

I have a great range in my millinery work, not only in terms of point of view but also in terms of technique and materiality. My approach to millinery is one that is marked by experimentation and exploration. My hope is that this is reflected in the work.
