My work is inspired by water-especially the flow of water over stones-as well as forms and textures found in the ancient world. Each piece is characterized by using asymmetry to create balance and a feeling of spontaneity. Bringing these ideas together with an organic sensibility. In creating these pieces, I'm focusing on the feeling I get when in nature-particularly near a stream; the smell and sounds of fresh rushing water bouncing off of ancient rock formations is relaxing and energizing.

Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

I use ultra-modern as well as ancient jewelry making techniques, this includes wax carving, fabrication, 3-D printing, and casting.

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

Working with earth's elements is exciting-there is an energy there that helps to inform the work. Also natural gemstones either free-form or precision cut.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

Creating pieces that are asymmetrical yet balanced give the pieces an element of the unexpected. Using two or more metals in a piece, or use of a black patina in an all gold piece, makes the piece more dramatic.
