Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

I use myriad traditional metalsmithing and lapidary techniques including fabrication, casting, gem polishing, setting, one-of-a-kind lost wax carving.

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

Jewelry holds a unique place in the realm of fine craft. It blurs the line between functional and ornamental, with an intimate relationship to the body and (often) an intrinsic value that allows it to speak through generations. This complexity is perpetually intriguing and always continues to inspire.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

My father is a jeweler and I was taught the medium from a young age. After a traditional education in fine art, I circled back to the sculptural, physical aspects of jewelry design. My work is uniquely informed by this path, with an eye for gems developed from very young and a design aesthetic informed by a passion for sculptural form and composition developed in my fine art studies.
