Q&A with the Artist

Tell us how your work is made.

I design and make most of my garments. I have one person who works with me on pattern making and production (Artful Home). I use industrial mesh and neoprene. I also have a One of a Kind Jacket that I make using recycled Japanese Kimono fabric and opulent silks from around the world. I have a studio in my home where I work. I display at my studio at NKB.

What makes you passionate about the medium you work with?

I live on a lake and have worn neoprene swimming. I have always been interested in the feel and different drape it creates. I flew for a major airlines and use industrial mesh (suitcase mesh) for its strength and feel both create an architectural garment. Japan gave me the love of the opulent Japanese Kimono which I use for my One of a Kind garments. I have been designing and sewing all my life.

What is something unique about you or your practice?

Industrial, unexpected, unusual, opulent, use of fabrics.
